3 & 7 Design

3 & 7 Design.com was started as the freelancing website for me, Kris Davenport, to display some of my favorite projects online. Because art and design are my passion, I strive to continually grow as a designer by learning new graphic software techiques, studying XHTML and CSS, and keeping up with current design trends by attending the 2011 HOW Design conference and reading design blogs, websites and books.

With over 12 years experience in design, I've accumulated a large collection of projects. I've selected some of my favorite pieces from the past few years to display. I hope you enjoy them! Please browse my collection and see how I can create a design for your specific needs.

What Influenced the Name 3 & 7 Design?

Music has always taken a large part in my design, artwork and life, from listening to a Pink Floyd 8 track in my parents' car as a kid to listening to OSI on my iPod. So I decided to incorporate music into a website name that represents me and my design. The music influence of my name selection comes from notes of a scale. I selected the third (3) and seventh (7) notes within an octave to represent my designs. The third note is a harmony when played with tonic and the seventh note is a leading tone and creates tension. The 3 and 7 reflects a dichotomy of harmony and tension in my work.
